I my opinion you have you three major options when it comes to online fur games.

You have your MUCKS; Total and complete customization with absolutely no limits to your creativity with yoru character in a world that takes a little bit of reading to navigate though.

Furcadia; a game that I feel could be comparable to the quality of Ultima Online (gee I wonder why) but with a few basic avatars you can still be anything you want with the right description, the navigation is a little bit simpler since you have a visual aid rather than text

Second Life; the massive computer slurping behemoth of resource draining that often makes people wonder if it’s worth it, but the answer is always yes. The customization is fantesticular three dimensional, but before you get TOO giddy about the idea of being that three-dee of awesome, lets not forget all free accounts start with 0 in game money, and the only way to get money is to; Trade services or products, by lindens from the site, or beg for donations.

P.S. Out of the three furcadia is the easiest.

There are a lot of things you can do in Furcadia that cannot be done on

a Mud, such as actually having people present, Most normal people in

this day and age have no interest in a text based MUD. Players in

Furcadia can make your own visual maps, add your own artwork, create

their own worlds for free.

False: you can make your own maps but in order for you to have your own portrait or for your dream to be seen by others you must be a silver sponsor. It does have alot that is free but customization isn't it also the way the dreams are arranged not only make them hard to find but congest traffic when there are actually people on. Furhtermore if you aren't lucky you will be greeted with the few amount of furs there really are on FurC. In continuation if you have any problems with starting conversation or meeting new people this doesn't help much, as most furs have the same problem.

The dreams that some people sponser to post are worth visiting and allow you some choices that you don't always have but even so Secondlife is a better way to go. Unless you are stuck with an old computer and bad graphics card like me.

Sounds good thats if you can afford a 1500 dollar comp..  my laptop cost me only 750 and its graphics card wont hold it.. so Furcadia is all i can do and to be honest i do enjoy it..    but to each his or her own i guess.

Now, I'm a fan of unlimited customization and having nearly unlimited access to stuff without having to pay, but I still like Furcadia more just because I'm not going to want to earn in-game money by doing things. I'm more into the social aspects and just playing, which makes Furcadia a lot easier to download, play, and just not have to worry about money. Not to mention it's not going to take a kickass recent computer to play.

If I wanted a 3-D game and hang out with tons of people and do whatever I want, I'd go to my school.

If I wanted to be whatever I want to be, I'll just wait for Halloween. One day a year to be whatever I want is good enough for me. Doing that more often makes the idea boring and normal.

(I know this topic is old but I wanted to weigh in whatever opinion I had)

Just a little something to relate my experience in Second Life...

For almost 2 months now, I have been trying to enter Second Life and being booted each time. I am a paid account member. They have no problem taking my money, but they do have a problem supporting this "environment". I have tried sending them all the info on a support ticket to resolve it. They don't even acknowledge getting the info. I have used their OnLine support chat system to try and resolve it to which I was told they would "escalate" the matter and STILL no resolution,

As of today, I have cancelled my account with Second Life. All plans to setup another version of F.U.Radio there is cancelled as well. I will not pay good money to something that I can't access nor get proper support to gain access to. There are too many virtual worlds setting up and asking for money to support them, yet giving NOTHING back to the users. As far as I am concerned, Second Life is nothing more than a total "MONEY GRAB". They talk the big talk that you are able to do this and that and if you are a paying client you get to do even more but when push comes to shove, unless you have LOTS of coin to spend on even the basic things, it is nothing more than a glorified visual chatroom.

I for one get more from Furcadia for my money that I EVER got from Second Life.

My recommendation when it comes to Second Life? I rate them a 2 out of 10 and would suggest you keep your money and spend it wisely in Furcadia. At least there you can build a "Dream" or continuity to interract with your friends for free and the wings and stuff you pay for (at your discretion) are some of the perks to the community. I used to believe that these Digo items were rather "pricey" but after my brief interraction with Second Life, I would consider that money spent on Digo items WELL spent.

These are all my opinions and NOT those of FurreFace. Take them or leave them, the choice is yours. *bows*...I remain your friend, NiteMyste, an EX- client of Second Life.

Now... as to Furcadia. I have been a member of the Furcadian Community since it's second week of inception and coming online. I have watched it grow from one world to many, each with their own themes, ideologies and atmospheres. It has been the "muse" of other virtual worlds including "Sims Online" and even Second Life. It "sparks" the imagination and the only reason someone would have a bad feeling or experience there would be if they themselves lack any semblance of an imagination. The ONLY thing that hampers a user on Furcadia is themselves. They give you all the "tools" to createyour own little "kingdom" or continuity and best of all, it is FREE. Second Life allows you to PURCHASE land and them also charges you a monthly maintenance fee to KEEP your land. And you can ONLY buy land IF you are a PAYING client. Now we get to the customization of this land. Unless you have lots of time to spend programming and working in terse scripts to create your walls, furniture and other items to make a home in SL, you will need to PAY someone to do it for you. In Furcadia, if you are not into making things, there are all kinds of patches online for FREE that allows you to create complete worlds within this world. Hell, I have over 300 various patches myself, some mine some made by others and given to me. The only restriction to your "dream" as they call it is YOU again,

And here's the kicker, the spot you upload your dream to is FREE unless you WISH to purchase their NEW dream package which by the way allows you to build and even bigger dream, with even MORE DS (their version of progamming that allows for some wild and crazy effects within your dreams) PS (their even more robust programming tool that allows for even better integration with the main server to create databases and even more special effects).

Support: Here is something that I have always said shows whether a virtual environment is truly worthwhile or not. I mean what good is a world if you can't access it or interract in it. Furcadia has one of the most unique in-world support systems available in ANY world. I have NEVER had any problems getting FAST resolution to any technical problems, support problems, in-game problems or dispute resolutions. They fully support their environment including graphical and programming problems. In fact, they will even explain how to make YOU creations work even BETTER. They have what they call Beekins who cover all aspects of the world.

No, while I am sure you can find some great things in SL (I know, I have seen some when I was allowed to access the world till I became a paying client) I am also just as sure that you will find some great things in Furcadia. Even though it is NOT as of yet fully 3D, it boasts some of the greatest dreams I have ever seen and it is amazing what can be done with some ingenuity and desing to allow for great 3D effects.

All being said and done, I recommend a person spend time in Furcadia themselves BEFORE making a decision. Spend at least 6 months there. You may find you like it, in fact, if you are like most who go there, you may find that you will become even addicted to it and actually miss it. I know I do.

These opinions are all my own. They are not those of FurreFace nor am I associated in ANYWAY with the creators of Furcadia (DEP). I must say one more thing. It was Furcadia that first accepted my furry-ness. It was there that I met others who shared my lifestyle and beliefs. It was due to these beliefs that I created FurreFace and all the other Furry projects that consume me. So, in it's own way, the members here should at least thank Furcadia and DEP for inspiring me to create at least this place to allow all to freely express their Furry-ness.

I remain your humble friend....NiteMyste...

P.S. I'm proud to be a Furry!!
